Description

Location and Description

[edit | edit source]

The river Szinto originates from 2 tributaries. One originates in the Eternals and the other in the Manekh-Chanebi mountains. The river branches into a delta behind Selem flows into the Selem Sound of the Sea of Pearls.

The Szinto is navigable approximately from the confluence of the two headwaters at Machsiz.

Economic Relevance

[edit | edit source]

Sophisticated irrigation makes two harvests of millet, rice, and other agricultural products possible despite the dry climate. For the Novadi people this region is main source of food.

An important caravan route runs along the Szinto River through the valley. It connects Malkillabad with Unau and Machsiz with Keft. Another source of income is the white clay of the Szintotal, which is used to produce filigree porcelain - a fairly new invention.

Political Relevance

[edit | edit source]

Because of it's economic importance for the Caliphate the Szinto valley was one of the first targets of the Al'Anfans in the Khôm War.

Miscellaneous

[edit | edit source]

THe word "Szinto" was borrowed from the language of the lizardfolk. It's literal meaning is Snake River. The locals still refer to the river by that name.
